African Startup Funding 2024

Techpoint reports that African startups took in about $2.2 billion in 2024 – a 25% decline from $2.9B in 2023. The first half was weak, but funding rebounded in H2 2024, buoyed by two major fintech deals (Moniepoint’s $110M Series C and Tyme Bank’s $250M Series D). Overall, equity and debt funding slowed, even as exits (22 acquisitions in 2024) ticked up.
